FALL OPERATIONAL CYCLE 2023
A Gift of Love West Georgia $2,500
A Gift of Love West Georgia is a non-profit ministry partner of Douglasville First UMC. Serving over 22 elementary and middle schools in Douglas County A Gift of Love West Georgia feeds approximately 300 children weekly! Grant funds will be used to purchase food for students experiencing food insecurity.
Bethlehem First UMC - House of Bread Ministry $2,500
House of Bread is a ministry of Bethlehem First UMC that provides a variety of non-perishable foods that are needed to provide balanced, nutritious meals to people of all ages, which are distributed each month through the House of Bread food pantry, the Little Free Food Pantry (open 24/7) and bags of food specifically for homeless persons who stop by the church. Grant funds will be used to purchase food and supplies for the ministry.
Covington First UMC - Giving Hands Food Pantry $2,500
Giving Hands Food Pantry serves Newton, Jasper, and Butts counties. Grant funds will be used to purchase reusable shopping bags, appropriate food items, and personal hygiene products for the ministry.
Decatur-Area Emergency Assistance Ministry (DEAM) $2,500
DEAM (Decatur-area Emergency Assistance Ministry) is a ministry supported primarily by 22 area churches that seek to meet the emergency needs of the less fortunate in the Decatur community. A non-profit ministry partner of Decatur First UMC, DEAM will use grant funds to purchase food and toiletries for weekly distribution.
Douglasville First UMC $2,500
Douglasville First UMC is partnering with Douglas County Homeless Coalition to provide a warming center during cold weather events. Grant funds will be used to purchase new cots and blankets for our warming center and other supplies that will help make unhoused neighbors stay comfortable.
Downtown Cooperative Church Ministry $2,500
The sole purpose of DCCM is to provide supplemental and emergency food to residents of Augusta-Richmond and Columbia counties who are in need and are food insecure. A non-profit ministry partner of St. John UMC, Augusta, DCCM will use grant funds to purchase food for distribution.
Elbert County Food Ministry $2,500
Created in 2009 as a collaborative United Methodist nonprofit, today Elbert County Food Ministry is supported by many denominations, individuals, and businesses. Led exclusively by volunteers, Elbert County Food Ministry is located on the campus of Concord UMC and serves Elberton, Bowman, and Elbert counties. Grant funds will be used to purchase food and expand the number of people served each month.
Gateway House, Inc. $2,500
Gateway House provides safety, shelter, and support for those impacted by domestic violence. A non-profit ministry partner of Gainesville First UMC, Gateway House will use grant funds to purchase supplies given to families as they move into the shelter, many of these items will be taken with clients when they move to their new homes.
Georgia Food and Resource Center $2,500
Georgia Food & Resource Center ( GAFRC ) is a non-profit, charitable, hunger and disaster relief organization that was formed to aid communities in need, providing them with food and other resources. GAFRC offers a weekly food pantry to individuals and weekly bulk distribution of food and resources to local community ministries. A non-profit ministry partner of Morrow First UMC, GAFRC will use grant funds to purchase supplemental food and diversify their offerings.
Hart Interdenominational Ministry $2,500
The mission of Hart Interdenominational Ministry (H.I.M.) is to connect people in need with churches and social agencies that will provide the appropriate help, support, and education that will not only meet the present need but will enable them to address the root causes of their personal, social and economic problems. A non-profit ministry partner of Cokesbury UMC, Hartwell, grant funds will be used to provide temporary shelter in a local hotel as more permanent housing options are pursued.
Jeremiah's Place $2,500
Jeremiah’s Place is a transitional housing community that provides families with a clean, safe, and stable place to live while they are taught how to start new, prosperous, and productive lives. A non-profit ministry partner of New UMC, Dahlonega, Jeremiah's Place will use grant funds to maintain the operation of their facility that houses those in need.
Morrow First UMC Food Pantry $2,500
The mission of the Morrow First UMC Food Pantry is to reconnect and assist those in the community and county by giving physical (food) and spiritual assistance in times of need. On average, the Morrow First Food Pantry serves 120 families each month. Grant funds will be used to purchase food to supplement donations.
Mountain Park UMC - Lunches of Love $2,500
By partnering with individuals and groups in the community, Lunches of Live delivers food and other necessities to those who are isolated due to poverty, in targeted neighborhoods where a lack of transportation severely limits access to other resources. What began as a summer lunch program quickly became a year-round outpouring of love for Mountain Park UMC. Grant funds will be used to purchase food for Thanksgiving and Christmas outreach events to feed those in need in the community.
Murphy-Harpst Children's Center $2,500
An agency of the United Methodist Church, Murphy-Harpst is an independent not-for-profit organization committed to meeting the needs of abused and neglected young people through residential treatment, placements in specialized foster care, and community programs that serve at-risk young people and their families. Partnering with Marietta Street UMC for this grant, funds will go toward the Transitional Living Program which helps young adults aging out of state care prepare for independent living.
Saint Mark UMC $2,500
Saint Mark UMC prepares a hot meal for 60 people each Saturday morning and Tuesday evening. During this meal, neighbors in need are welcomed with dignity and respect and provided clothing and other key services. Grant funds will be used to purchase meals and other supplies used in the operation of this ministry.
The Good Samaritan Center of Douglas County, Inc. $2,500
The Good Samaritan Center of Douglas County is a Faith-based ministry dedicated to providing food/prescription medication, and emotional support to individuals and families in need. A non-profit ministry partner of Douglasville First UMC, The Good Samaritan Center of Douglas County will use grant funds to purchase food from the Atlanta Community Food Bank for their ministry.
SPRING CAPITAL CYCLE 2023
Be the Light Medical Mission $10,000
Be the Light Medical Mission partners with local United Methodist churches, like Lindsey Chapel UMC, to host mobile medical clinics for those living below the poverty level or experiencing homelessness. Grant funds will be used to purchase computer equipment for the mobile clinic to track patient records and to replace an HVAC unit in their clinic location in Bremen.
Eastside Church $5,000
Eastside Church is creating new ways to serve neighbors in need by expanding its free pantry to include a free fridge that will offer fresh food to neighbors who are unhoused. The pantry has been a welcome addition to Eastside's ministry as it has fed those who are hungry and engaged the community in collecting and sorting donations.
Family Promise of New Rock $10,000
Family Promise of North Fulton/DeKalb $6,782
Family Promise of North Fulton/Dekalb is expanding the client service offerings at their Day Center to include a career center. Grant funds will help provide a privacy screen, furnishings, and computers for clients to work with case managers.
Intown Cares $10,000
Intown Cares, formerly Intown Collaborative Ministries, works to end homelessness among those who are chronically homeless. Caseworkers go out into the community to help people acquire necessary IDs and birth certificates so that they may access assistance. Grant funds will be used to upgrade technology so that caseworkers will have laptops and hotspots capable of meeting the unique needs of this work.
Robert L. Moore Disciple House $10,000
Named for a beloved member of Conyers First UMC, the Robert L. Moore Disciple House is a faith-based, non-profit 501(c)(3) ministry providing a temporary home environment for men recently released from the Rockdale County jail who would otherwise face homelessness and food insecurity. Grant funds will be used to renovate the home scheduled to open later this fall.
Trinity Community Ministries $10,000
Trinity Community Ministries helps homeless men reclaim their lives and return to their families and communities as mentors and leaders. Grant funds will be utilized to immediately upgrade an HVAC unit in the residential and program building that is used for sleeping quarters, fellowship meals, meetings with case managers, NA/AA meetings, and other workshops.
HABITAT GRANTS:
Habitat for Humanity of Hall County $5,000
Habitat for Humanity of Hall County will use grant funds to build a safe and affordable home for a neighbor in need. The first build of the summer is a home outfitted for a family with hearing impairment.
